PROFESSIONAL FOOD AID MONETIZATION

JDM Monetization Services has monetized hundreds of thousands of metric tons of U.S. origin commodities for USDA and USAID programs.  The complex process includes:  

  • Writing and negotiating accurate monetization plans for USDA
  • Identifying Qualified Buyers, tendering and negotiating sale contracts  terms, conditions, payment requirements and commodity specifications
  • Overseeing the procurement of the U.S. origin commodity and freight
  • Ensuring proper banking instruments (Letters of Credit) are opened, clean and operable
  • Issuing, gathering and presenting shipping and letter of credit documents

Jonathan Mooney has more than 20 years experience in international food aid monetization, business development, sustainability programs, food sales and supply chain management. 


Jon has monetized more than $200 Million of U.S. agriculture commodities throughout Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.  He has a thorough knowledge and understanding of USDA and USAID monetization programs and the rules and regulations under which they must be implemented.  Jon has successfully monetized commodities for dozens of USDA and USAID food aid and food security programs.

Mr. Mooney has a keen interest, expertise and skill in the conceptualization and implementation of international sustainable business development and global food security programs.  He is experienced in implementing international sustainable development contracts funded by USAID and USDA and has worked at leading international agricultural and food businesses in positions of responsibility in challenging environments and complex business settings.

Jon has outstanding diplomacy skills that consistently produce win-win results for clients and donors.  Jon possesses effective communication skills with all levels organizations and is fluent in Spanish and English, both written and oral.

Some food aid program types utilize a barter system.  U.S. origin commodities are traded, or bartered, with host country participants in exchange for delivered food products for educational or direct feeding settings.

Contracting, warehousing, delivery and accounting/reporting are challenging aspects of these types of food aid programs.  JDM Monetization Services is well versed in the intricate nature of these programs and can assist in designing and implementing the commodity delivery, contracting, warehousing and accounting for these programs.

As co-owner of a small coffee import business, JDM Monetization Services is experienced in commodity imports in to the United States and understands the U.S. requirements for importing commodities into the United States.
